A Child’s Diary: Shivan Sharma’s Corona Lockdown Days in Kathmandu, Nepal

We are encouraging children to write diaries and share with us. We are presenting Shivan Sharma, a 11-year old boy, who lives in Kathmandu, Nepal. Here are his thoughts (no edits, no filters):

June 20

I have a surprise for you. Check out the link.

Hey, I have an idea for next time. But, I won’t reveal it today!! Cause it will be a total surprise!! I am so busy today, but this is my fixed time so I gotta follow it, I mean. Some new things are there. Let me give you one surprise for today. Just click here. And now, let me go to the real diary!!

Thinking about it again, being a class representative is not so easy!! Like, at first, things were going as planned. But now we slipped on the floor!! Things are so stressful, it feels like Ultron is in my head!! Really!! Now, let me ask some riddles!! But, this time I will be giving hints as well!!

Riddle Hint
What kind of dog never bites? It is a food item
What is the largest ant in the world? It does not have to be the small ants, but, something named as an ant
A boy was reading. The lights went out, but the boy kept reading. How?Think of medical issues. Do not think this as a world of fantasy.
I have 8 rooms, but no windows or doors. What am I? Think and Think!! Brainstorm it.

One thing, I am trying to make the way I give Riddles in an interesting way, so, I have been doing this in tables. Next time, I might do it in another way!! OK!! Last thing for today incoming!!

The latest news I have come to know about is that is India has found the medicine to coronavirus. Well, I can’t say anything here because I am just a 12-year-old kid. I can’t decide and judge not even as a child or an adult!! So, yes!! That’s it for today I guess!!

Can you help me with creating this new superhero please?

Actually, I don’t even know if what I’m feeling is happiness or nothingness? It feels like I am just floating in mid-air. Well, the only thing I can think of is school. But, I won’t share about that. I am not even going to share about my feelings. I’ll be telling about my feelings later, but for now I will be telling about what I think is going on in between these two things i.e What I have done & what I feel like. Like, the connectors of these 2 phrases. I have been having short time to do things, such as writing this diary (takes 20 minutes), Playing (only 1 hour per day). And that is what makes the lock-down boring, don’t you think?

Plus, stressing is a very common thing for me!! I stress out a lot. Like, a lot!! I sometimes even get sick because of the stress. This time also, I had the same problem because of our news reading competition. I just simply took back this opportunity because of the risk it had given me around 3 times!! Could you imagine? 3!! Like so hard to go through in one’s difficulties. Man, good memory though it is disgusting. Now, with my feelings: (Guess what? I am starting to use Pie charts again. YAY!!)

I mean, really, why would I forget about pie charts!! Come on!! OK!! So I mean, I do not have anything to share. I am left with my last option. I need a favor from any one of you.

So, me and Arnav have been given a task to make one superhero combining Spider-man & Captain-America. We have completed everything, but, we need to decide on the weakness of the hero. So, I would  request you to give me and Arnav ideas on my email: or you can contact Arnav if you have his Email. That is all I had in my mind for today. Bye then!! See you next time.

  1. Simple and real. Out of many, your strength on talking to strangers is my favorite one. Life is all about exploring and understanding what is already out there. I wish you lots of love and luck to first keep writing and second love what you do in life ❤️.

And as a mother myself, lastly would like to add that the more a mother yells at her children the more she loves them 🙂 speaking outa’ personal experience here! hehe! TC.
